My name is Charles Krueger. I am a blogger, podcaster, internet marketer, technology consultant, and social media enthusiast. MediaCivic is the beginning stages of a social network for social media enthusiasts. I wanted to create a community site where other social media enthusiast might brainstorm, collaborate, and share ideas for further growth of this new social media driven society. I am hoping that the site will take form by those that join the network. This site is built on the Drupal framework because everything I understand about Drupal tells me that this is a great platform to drive the productivity of the cause. I am, however unwise, using Drupal 6 Beta. I know this can be an issue with getting modules and other things to work properly, but I have faith in the communities, both drupal’s and MediaCivic’s
If you have interest in being a contributor to the growth of this idea and this site please contact me. You can join using your openID account, otherwise feel free to create a new "citizen" account. Once you let me know how you would like to help build the community, I will add the proper permissions to your account. Think of it as a large open source project for the members of the network to add their own designs, knowledge, practices, and systems in a global effort for world domination. Just kidding about that world domination, in a way.
I am not even sure what the vision is yet, but it is there. Please join and share your talents with the community.
This is what we need, just thinking off the top of my head;
1. Designers (to determine the look)
2. Coders (to determine the functionality of the site)
3. System administrators (to help organize all the data and prevent everyone from stepping on top of one another)
4. Event planners (to assist in the regular planning of the “summit, un-conference, seminar” that I feel the community would benefit from)
Thank you all ahead of time for participating in this global social media development experiment. Make it your “Social Media Civic Duty” or "Be a good social media citizen at MediaCivic". (Just a couple thoughts for tag lines)
That’s what it is, it’s an experiment!
